A “True Freethinker” from “Atheism is Dead”

Dear “Atheism is Dead” readership,

In order to consolidate my various online projects, I have concocted a new website.

I have attempted to merged the best of websites and blogs with the running chronological updates of a blog on the homepage and the categorization capabilities of a website.

The website is now running but having to dump my circa 1,300 essays into it and adjusting them to their new home is a work in progress thus, it is still “under construction.” Meanwhile, "Atheism is Dead" will shortly go into stasis.

So, set your phasers to stun, and reset your favorites from “Atheism is Dead” to “True Freethinker” at http://www.truefreethinker.com

    I hope you won't take offense if I no longer follow your "truly free thinking." In the time I have followed this blog, my curiosity has been piqued, but I remain basically unimpressed. You consistently fail to adequately reckon with the most intelligent and most effective arguments on the other side, preferring instead to focus on personalities and caricatures, and the faulty pseudo-arguments stemming from them (often fabrications of your own, buttressed by quotes taken out of context).

    On the occasion when you have confronted real arguments (not straw men), your analysis has simply not held water--holy water, maybe, but not real water. I have certainly learned a great deal about the thinking underlying "Christian apologetics"... and I, a secularist, like it. Atheism is very much alive, my friend. Very much so.

  20. The 'True Freethinker' line is obviously a tongue-in-cheek prod at atheists who think that only people who agree with them are 'freethinkers'.

    A real freethinker is someone who doesn't let anyone else pressure them into agreeing with them, it has nothing to do with what they actually believe. If it did, they wouldn't be real freethinkers, would they?
