  1. I think the point that people try to make when a "Christian" is caught in a sexual scandal is that it often smacks of hypocrisy. After all, as you yourself have pointed out, Hitchens doesn't subscribe to Christian sexual mores.

    I certainly will keep the "who cares approach" in mind when a Christian has a sexual indiscretion, as soon as they stop castigating others for having sexual "indiscretions." Seems fair, after all.

  4. What is actually the point of this story? So Christopher Hitchens is 'obsessed with sex'; so what? Even if Hitchens were the most depraved person on the planet, that would still not mean that he is wrong about God and theological questions in general.

    Sex and rape are two very different things!

    If hitchens suggested that it was also wrong to commit murder during intercourse, would this be another contradiction in his position?

    What are you talking about? Every good Christian knows that rape is simply an extremely icky kind of sex. It's like this:

    Pederasty = icky sex
    Rape = icky sex
    Gay = icky sex

    Yes, this behavior is hypocritical among a religious group whose holy scripture openly condemns homosexuality. Atheists, lacking this rationale, don't generally seem to be bothered by homosexuality, and accordingly, are less likely to be guilty of this perceived hypocrisy.

  10. Atheism Is Dead you do not say really, I thought it was Christianity since its getting very few young people to embrace it. I understood its congregation are a aging group with no apparent future life blood of youth coming to it, about time to wave bye bye to Christianity say good night Gracie !
