  2. I didn't realize that Allah has exactly the same characteristics as the Christian God.

  3. God--the only God there is--is fierce in his fiery hatred against anything or anyone who defies his authority. I like that about him. I'm a liar and a thief and filled with selfishness and lust. He has every right to squash me like the stink bug I am and with a flick of his finger cast me away forever. I deserve it. I have not one word I could utter to justify myself for what I have done. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but did it anyway. I used to shoot birds out of trees at night just for fun. I had sex with a girl I did not love, just for fun. I sped through a stop sign just for fun, and killed a man (that wasn't fun). I deserve sickness, torment, and hell and the righteous God of all flesh could and should pour out his wrath on me for the violence I've selfishly done to others. The OT proves what he could justly do, BUT he poured out his wrath on his own flesh. He satisfied his own need for justice by going beyond justice, sacrificing "the just for the unjust." He hasn't forced me to believe the narrative of the whole Bible, OT and NT, but I do, willingly. It is suited to my conscience, meets the need of my heart, and is intellectually satisfying in explaining everything happening in the world I live in. As I've believed and acted accordingly, I've encountered God, experienced his power and presence just as he promised, and even beyond. In my opinion, given the breadth of Scripture and its historical validation, only the worst kind of fool would continue to justify his own selfishness and risk meeting the God of the OT at the judgment which follows this temporal life. Thank you Jesus!

  4. Now Mariano's using the old excuse of "So atheists will attack the Christian God, but not Allah!" and so forth.

    *Ahem*
    Allah can vacuum my shaft.
Allah can jump off a cliff onto spikes. Ass-first.
Allah can ... okay, this is getting boring already.

No, Mariano, people don't only attack the Christian God because they're afraid of others – it's that Christianity is the most prominent religion across the Western world. Pretty simple.

(And a friendly recommendation: CafePress sucks. You should use Zazzle instead – has many more features, you retain much better control, plus it's absolutely free, unlike CP.)

Yeah, yeah... always the cop-out. Put up or shut up. You aren't likely to be beheaded by Christians for wearing a shirt like that and Christianity is in the minority in the UK but the mosques are popping up by the dozens.

So when the atheist's start wearing a shirt like that regarding Allah in any town with a decent Muslim population, I'll believe you. Even here in the US, you won't have to go far.

    What a load of poppycock.

  6. Anything of substance you'd like to add?

Okay, lemme repeat: atheists aren't afraid of Christians, OR Muslims, OR anyone else, simply for them being Muslim or whatever. We don't care. We attack Christians around here cuz THAT'S ALL THERE IS. Is this clear enough yet? Or need I display a few charts and graphs illustrating how Christians are the majority, and therefore, they're the prominent "opponents" to atheists in the area?

(I'd also mention that Muslims in America aren't anywhere near as retarded as those across the Middle-East appear to be; and also, Muslims, unlike Christians, aren't always trying to take over education and political faculties. For starters. They also don't whine all the time about how we Evil Atheists(TM) are so very very mean to them with our sharp words and evil use of logic and reasoned arguments to dismantle their stupid, silly, superstitious claims and assertions.

I'll leave now; got the feeling there's about to be an explosion of sputum.

  7. Just one tiny addendum –

"Put up or shut up"? How, exactly? Claim loud n' proud that "Allah is a murderous sack of filth"? Or wear a shirt claiming such in the streets? Do clarify, man.

  8. Joe -

Or wear a shirt claiming such in the streets?

    Bingo.

and also, Muslims, unlike Christians, aren't always trying to take over education and political faculties.

Really? How about Islamic Sharia law courts in Britain? Islam is indeed being pushed into our public school systems in the US as more and more schools are adjusting their schedules to accommodate Muslim worship.

We attack Christians around here cuz THAT'S ALL THERE IS. Is this clear enough yet?

Really? Everywhere an atheist be there are only Christians to 'attack'?

They also don't whine all the time about how we Evil Atheists(TM) are so very very mean to them with our sharp words and evil use of logic and reasoned arguments to dismantle their stupid, silly, superstitious claims and assertions.

Oh the poor persecuted atheist. Boohoo. The whole 'out' campaign is nothing but a giant whine fest. When you can go to compassdirect.org and replace the Christian victims with atheist's then you might have a leg to stand on.

Thank You! We Moslems in the Middle East say the same things about atheists.......

The atheists in the middles East aren't anywhere near as retarded as those in America and Europe appear to be. Unlike atheists in the west, Middle Eastern atheists aren't always trying to take over Education and poltical faculties. Atheists in the Middle East also don't whine all the time about how evil we Moslems are to them by using sharp swords and reasonable arguments to dismantle their heads when they insist on making silly, irrational statements about how rational and clever their arguments are.

// Really? How about Islamic Sharia law courts in Britain? Islam is indeed being pushed into our public school systems in the US as more and more schools are adjusting their schedules to accommodate Muslim worship. \\

    A) I'm talking from a North American standpoint; B) That's because the British government is RETARDED and openly allows such bullshit to happen. It's their own damn fault. If the gov't had any backbone, they'd say NO.

// Really? Everywhere an atheist be there are only Christians to 'attack'? \\

I see someone doesn't understand simple figures of speech. I obviously meant, as I'd said numerous times already, that they're the VAST MAJORITY in the Western world. Therefore, they are the most influential. Therefore, they are atheists' "default enemies". Therefore, it's them whom we focus our criticism on the most. I'm running out of ways in which to spell this out.

// Oh the poor persecuted atheist. Boohoo. \\

... I'd like to hear how that has the slightest thing to do with anything I said, considering I was talking about how it's Christians who are always whining and showcasing their Christian Persecution Complex at the evil little 10% of atheists in America. Yeah, we're so evil and powerful.

    *Boo*

  12. There is only one true god, and it's name is Mammon. At least in the US.

It always seems to boil down moving merchandise. Who would believe in Jesus if he couldn't deliver the goods, as the Protestant Ethic teaches?

First it was pushing books at Amazon. Now its t-shirts.

  14. Please name me even one atheist who has traveled Muslim countries besmirching and attempting to discredit the Qur'an, Muhammad or Allah.

Please name me even one atheist who has appeared on TV in Muslim countries besmirching and attempting to discredit the Qur'an, Muhammad or Allah.

Please name me even one atheist who has published a book which focuses on besmirching and attempting to discredit the Qur'an, Muhammad or Allah.

    Please name me even one.

This is part of the reason that the New Atheist movement is dead.

  15. I suppose I could always refer you to Crackergate, I suppose. You know, where PZ Myers threw a Christian communion cracker, a KORAN, and a copy of Dawkins' The God Delusion in a garbage can together – the ultimate desecration. You'll notice that amidst the massive Christian outrage this created – not one Muslim came and said anything about it. Not one.

For the very last time (cuz this is getting annoying to repeat): we're not scared of criticizing Islam, Muslims, the Koran, or any of that stuff. No more than we're afraid of criticizing Christianity, or Buddhism, or Rap music, or weeds, anything else in the freakin' Universe. The reason we don't, is because we don't have to! It's not Muslims who are taking over education boards across the USA, it's not Muslims who are seeping through the government, it's not Muslim-based regulations and "morales" that are valiantly trying to oppress atheism here and there across the States, it's not Muslims who launch campaign after campaign aimed at demonizing atheism and godlessness, and I could go on but I won't 'cause this is all old news and it's a pain to repeat.

And finally, of course, perhaps most New Atheists are just too mature to parade around saying "You suck, this sucks, that sucks" or spouting it on their clothes. Think about it.

So go ahead about how we Atheists all chickenshit and just won't dare to criticize those evil Muslims. When we have, and do, at length, all the time. As you would know if you actually took the time to read other blogs and websites.

(And I'll neglect to mention the irony of your statement that "New Atheism is dead" when numbers just keep rising at high speeds, across America and across the world.)

  16. Mariano,

Meet Dr. Wafa Sultan, an atheist who regularly criticizes Islam and has appeared on Al-Jazeera to express her views.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wafa_Sultan

    Does that satisfy your request?

    Cheers.

"Meet Dr. Wafa Sultan, an atheist who regularly criticizes Islam and has appeared on Al-Jazeera to express her views."

The article says that she embraces secularism not that she is an atheist. I embrace secularism but I'm definitely not an atheist.

    Joe McKen.....

"And finally, of course, perhaps most New Atheists are just too mature to parade around saying "You suck, this sucks, that sucks" or spouting it on their clothes. Think about it."

Which rock have you been living under for the passed decade?

Yeah... PZ Myers - way to go! If that's all you've got, you are desperately lacking. The ultimate desecration? Look, when Myers and Co. start marching around Islamic institutions or festivals like they did with the Creation Museum last week and causing unnecessary raucous... real maturity by the distinguished prof, btw... then maybe you'll have a leg to stand on in your argument.

Sure, keep telling yourself that, Joe. That's what most Europeans did as Islam crept in and now they're paying the price. Don't think that's going to happen here? It already is. The list goes on and on and on. From California to Florida. And the things you'd expect to see left to the 'retarded muslims,' I believe you called them, in the Middle East are happening more and more here in the US. So go ahead and continue to close your eyes and plug your ears, pretending it'll all just go away... Meanwhile, you can continue on your little tirade, 'attacking' Christians for all the grief they cause and squelching of your freedoms.

"And finally, of course, perhaps most New Atheists are just too mature to parade around saying "You suck, this sucks, that sucks" or spouting it on their clothes. Think about it."

The last few posts from PZ Myers would seem to indicate otherwise.

Read "The Family", by Jeff Sharlet. Here's a recent interview with the author: http://tinyurl.com/m4k2jq

I bet you didn't know that Jesus hates unions and loves dictators. Dominionists are scarier and dangerouser than O. bin L. ever was.

  20. It's hard to say whether Wafa Sultan's beliefs qualify as atheism or not. Her critics clearly think she is an atheist and have no problem referring to her as one:
    http://islamnewsroom.com/moon-god-no-way-hot-topics-59/509-wafasultan1.html

But there are other examples that are more clear cut like Salman Rushie and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, self-proclaimed atheists whose criticism of Islam has earned them death threats. Face it Mariano, your challenge has been met.

And what exactly is the point of all of this anyway? Is it that you really think that atheists support Islam more than Christianity? I can tell you that's not true. Allah is as big a load of baloney as Yahweh. Eat my shorts, Muhammad.

You're right that it's a privelege that we can even debate religious beliefs in this country. If I lived in Saudi Arabia, I'd keep my mouth shut. You can call me a coward, but really, arguing for the non-existence of an imaginary thing is a much lower priority to me than preserving my life. After all, I merely lack a belief in gods. I don't deny the incredible luxury I have to live in the U.S. and have freedom of speech.

But you give credit to "Judeo-Christian principles", which is odd. I would keep my mouth shut in the Judeo-Christian Ireland because of its blasphemy laws, and I wouldn't start denouncing god around orthodox Jews in Israel either. But I would feel free to discuss my atheism in the non-Judeo-Christian India or Hong Kong. Permitting blasphemy is a very non-Judeo-Christian thing to do. "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain". Jesus Christ, I love America!

  21. I don't think it's fair to put the likes of Salman Rushdie, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and Wafa Sultan in the same category of atheists as Dawkins, Harris, PZ Myers, and Hitchens.

The latter four are pompous, poseurs that would recite the five pillars of Islam and say ten Hail Marys rather than risk losing their comfortable lifestyles for what they claim to believe. Why does anyone take them seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ignoring that Allah and God are one and the same. I'm surprised that no one has bought up Hitchens, His book God is Not Great has chapters on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (and others) and he goes everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "Why does anyone take them seriously?"

Ask Mariano, he's positively obsessed by them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for "God" -- a unique word in Arabic which can't be pluralized, because God has no partners.

Note that Arab-speaking Christians and Jews also use the word "Allah".

    ReplyDelete
  25. So mocking the Christian/Biblical God, is the the same as mocking the God of Quran because Muslims share the very same God as Christians & Jews- the "God Abraham". And they share similar stories of the prophets too, except that there is more elaboration on Eber for example, and Saleh a prophet sent to Thamuds/Edomites around Petra (not mentioned in the Testament) etc. But they believe that stories about righteous prophets like Lot molesting his daughters or Solomon commiting idolatry etc are signs of distortion in Bible.

    ReplyDelete
  26. oops, I meant: "the God of Abraham" :)

  27. Sorry, Mariano. In this time of worldwide recession, I can't justify spending money on your t-shirts to demonstrate how clever I am. Instead, I'll spend my money actually helping someone.

    ReplyDelete
  28. My only request is that atheists grow up and stop talking about "flying sphagetti monsters" or "Invisible pink unicorns". Then i might be able to take them seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What! Deny the FSM? That would be apostasy!!! For a sin that dark I'd come back in the next life as a Baptist. I won't risk it.

Besides, people living by a rebus have no business criticising a cartoon.
